My Name is Eckart Hitsch,PHD, the father of Ulrike Romatschke. I am a water chemist in Salzburg in Austria in Europe with 40 yaers of experience in Water chemistry in the Municipal water works of Salzburg.
Studing the water Crisis in Flint, I read, that the the connection pipes, made of lead, will now be replaced by copper pipes. If your water is acidic, as it must be, if it disolves lead, it would also dissolve copper. You would be poisend by copper instead by lead. and for this ,you have to pay millions ofUSD.
In europe the limits for Copper installation are pH 7,4 with steady control of the copper content in the produced water, or pH 7.0 without this control.
Water treatment with anti-corrosion agents will help, if properly done, but You are always dependent on good managing practice of the treatment plant and good knowlege of water chemistry!!
If You want to be on the save side, I would recomend plastic pipes for the replacment of the connection pipes and also for the installation within the houses!
